Might have over worked it. I feel like I added too much black in the shadows.
I also posted on another blog and asked suggestions from other people. One suggestion was to recompose it so that it looked 3D. I feel like this picture has better form. What do you think?
By shadows are you referring to the actual shadow of the whole rock or the shadows on the rock itself?
I can understand that the comp should be more 3D, the one you have set up I would adjust the shadow so that it doesn't look like it is just coming out from one side. I think the shadow layout on the drawing is better where there is some below the actual rock.
